Recovery residencemeans a service that provides alcohol-free and illicit drug-free housing to individuals with substance-related disorders or addictive disorders, or co-occurring mental health , substance-related disorders or addictive disorders. “Emergency”Recover Housing (E-Bed) refers to short term placement in a safe, healthy and substance-free living environment that support individuals awaiting transition to a recovery program, transitional, or long term stable housing. In contrast to a rating system (e.g. one star versus four-star), the NARR Levels distinguish between types of recovery residences, which differ in the kind and intensity of services and supports they provide. Individuals need various types and levels of support at different stages of recovery. Matching an individual with the appropriate level of support is both recovery supportive and cost-effective.

The Recovery Residence at Hogan Hall is a unique residential opportunity for Saint Joseph’s students in active recovery to live in a supportive community environment, all while maintaining their academic life on Hawk Hill. This innovative effort is the first-of-its-kind in the Philadelphia region and serves as the centerpiece of Saint Joseph’s collegiate recovery program, offering support for every facet of a student’s residential experience. The residence encourages health and wellness in mind, body and spirit for our students in recovery. Recovery housing is a family-like, shared living environment free from alcohol and illicit drug use and centered on peer support and connection to services that promote sustained recovery from substance use disorders.
